Campbell Brown is an American TV anchor and a reporter, who was an award winner with NBC-TV and served a long time for CNN News. A student of media, she began her career as a journalist for NBC’s KSNT-TV, in Kansas and quickly moved to WWBT-TV in Virginia. In the early parts of her career she worked for WBAL-TV, Baltimore as well as WRC-TV in Washington. In 1996, she was hired by NBC, who deployed her to cover the Kosovo war news and was assigned to The Pentagon. After successfully covering the news, she served as the White House correspondent for a long time, and in that time covered the presidential Campaign of the year 2000, covering George W. Bush. She became the fist option to replace Brian Williams from the NBC Nightly News and in 2006; she was almost chosen to host the Today Show. For her coverage of the hurricane “Katarina”, she was awarded with an Emmy Award, which was the highest honor of her career. She eventually hosted the Weekend Today before moving into CNN after 11 years of service at NBC, because she wanted to give more time to her family and her to- be baby. She is an American by nationality and belongs to white ethnicity.
She started at CNN from 2008, hosting the CNN Election Center, which was renamed to Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull. After a controversial interview that she took of a Republican spokesperson Tucker Bounds, she asked and spoke some words, which later the John McCain Campaign accused her to have gone “over the line”. She was highly criticized, and in the face of the situation, her show lost its ratings. This triggered an alarm in CNN, who released brown from her contract in 2010. Stepping down in the May of 2010, she said “I could have said, that I am stepping down to spend more time with my children (which I truly want to do). Or that I am leaving to pursue other opportunities (which I also truly want to do). But I have never had much tolerance for others’ spin, so I can’t imagine trying to stomach my own. The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else.” Although her salary is not disclosed, she has an estimated net worth of $8.5 million dollars. Her popularity can be seen through her large fan following on her Twitter and Instagram accounts.
