David Russell Gordon “Dave” Davies, better known as Dave Davies is an English musician, lead guitarist and the main singer of the rock band The Kinks. He is a very successful and popular musician, and was rated at no. 91 in “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” by Rolling Stone magazine. He started as a professional after joining The Kinks in 1963, along with his brother Ray Davies and drummer Mick Avory. Due to harshness in relationship between the two, Avory left the band and left the two Davies brothers with nothing but the tools. With his amazing guitar skills, he was mostly noted for his Power Chords, which became an iconic skill for the later musicians.
With many successful songs and albums produced by the band, they also did a Europe tour in 1966 after which Dave started his solo career. He released his first song “Death of a Clown”, in 1967, which topped the list on UK Single’s chart and stayed at no.3, which inspired him to release his second record, “Susannah’s Still Alive”. Having been a sensation, he failed to put dedication in his work, and people stopped listening to his tracks anymore. His brother however, was doing a great deal of work to which he said in an interview, “My brother is all right, his life is dedicated to getting the studio together. He’s really into that. He’s started recording, but I might even have to get a contract with him and say he’s got to deliver [a solo] album. It may be the only way he’s going to record is at gunpoint.”
Dave was born as the youngest of eight children, into a middle class family although not much is known about his parents. He was born on the 3rd of February, 1947 and in 2015, his current age is 68 years old. The kids were raised together at their home in Denmark Terrace, Fortis Green, London. As children, they all listened to a lot of music, with variation in taste, style and time of music. However, Dave was more into playing instruments and used to play the Skiffle, before he got his first guitar at 11. He and his friends, along with his brother would jam in their house, and their parents would join the team; playing the piano and singing too. Thus, the family was a “musical” as a whole, and made the perfect environment for the growth of a musician. Born and raised as a British by nationality, he belongs to white ethnicity.
A handsome looking man, Dave was known for his deep voice and long black hair. He was good looking, had a good height of 5 feet and 10 inches tall, and a well-shaped athletic figure that has been revealed in many shirtless pictures on the media. Regarding his personal life, he is currently single, but started his relationship with his girlfriend Zouzou back in early 60s. He however, broke up and started dating Lisbet Davies in 1965. The two of them decided to get married the next year, and lived together for 24 years before getting divorced in 1990. Dave, who was accused to lack responsibility and love by his wife, has a son named Daniel, who was taken to live with his mother. The news of his affairs with musician John Baldry, raised questions on his sexuality, as many accused him to be sexually gay.
With much fame and success in his career, he has got a net worth value of $3.5 million dollars, which is in 2015. He has also got a wide fan following in social sites like Instagram and Twitter, where his fans get updated with his recent activities.
