Peter Lawrence Buck popularly known as Peter Buck is one of the finest and most talented rock musician of America. He is the co- founder and the lead guitarist of the famous rock band R.E.M. HE was born on 6th December 1956, which makes his age 58. His birthplace is Berkeley, which lies in California, USA. He is an American by nationality. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia with his family after the brief stays at Los Angeles and San Francisco. In 1975 he graduated with honors from Crestwood High School. He then studied at Emory University. He did not complete his study in Emory and eventually dropped out. He then moved to Athens, Georgia and started studying at the University of Georgia. While woking at the Wuxtry Records store in Athens he met Michael Stipe who is the future bandmate of R.E.M. and Bertis Downs the future legal and managerial representative of R.E.M.

He became part of the new band The Baseball Project formed by McCaughey and Steve Wynn as the bass guitarist along with Linda Pitmon. His signature Rickenbacker guitar, which he used in live concerts and also in the studio, was stolen from the stage immediately after the band’s concert in Helsinki on 9th September 2008. Later on 18th September 2008 the guitar was returned by an unknown source. His band R.E.M. got dissolute in September 2011. In March 2012 he announced to work on a solo album along with singer- songwriter Joseph Arthur. He has also voiced in one of the many songs by R.E.M. titled I Walked with a Zombie.
