Uri Geller is an Israeli illusionist who was born on December, 1946 in Tel Aviv and his current age is 68. His height is 1.83m. He is popularly known as magician, self proclaimed psychic as well as television personality. His parents are from Hungary and Austria ethnicity. His father is Itzhaak Geller who is a retired army sergeant and mother is Manzy Freud. Geller and his family moved to Nicosia, Cyprus when he was of age 12. He attended the Terra Santa College there and also learned English. He even served in the Israeli Army’s Paratroopers Brigade and got injured during the Six day war in the year 1967.
In the year 1968, he also worked as a photographic model, which he continued, to 1969. He started to work for small group of audiences as a nightclub entertainer when he was well known in Israel. He first began to act in theatres, auditoriums,, universities, public halls and military bases in Israel. He had already made his name by the end of 1970s in Europe and the United States. He began his career by demonstrating on television what he explained to be dowsing, psychokinesis and telepathy. His performances included describing hidden drawings, spoon bending, and even making watches run or stop. His one of the most prominent critics is the ‘skeptic James Randi’ who accused Geller as fraud time and again for trying to pass off his magic tricks as his paranormal scenes. Randi often copied Geller’s magic using stage performance techniques. Geller was later described as ‘a millionaire several times over’ and known to be performing many mineral services for groups at a minimum fee of 1 million euro.
In 2001, he starred in a horror film “Sanitarium” which was directed by ‘Johannes Roberts’ and ‘James Eaves’. He was also one of the contestants of the first series of a reality TV show called “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”. He was the first one of the contestants to be eliminated and also finished in last position. He began to host the show “The Next Uri Geller” in January 2008, which was broadcasted by Pro7.
